I truly love my gardens...all the flowers, plants, sculptures and little critters that inhabit the spaces on my property, however........ A few months ago I  had to kill a  huge 5 foot black (rat) snake that was hanging around the front of my house in a flowerbed. The photo to the right is my front sidewalk (older pic) and she had too many places to hide in there. She seemed to be wanting to get inside. I found a large snakeskin a year or two ago inside...oh gasp...my house and I couldn't let that happen again. She wouldn't let me catch her to take her off somewhere...so there ya go. Rat snakes have their babies in June and I didn't want a whole family of them in my front yard, or in my house..so I did what I had to do for goodness sakes.  It's not that I don't like snakes...I don't  really care one way or another, except for the poisonous ones (copperheads in this part of the country) I don't mind small green snakes and garter snakes because they are bug eaters.  Both of my son's have even had snakes as pets.  My son Dennis had a 9 1/2 foot carpet python for a while and  ..........well enough about snakes!
